A glance at Main Interface
The main window of Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro is divided into seven major sections and subsections. They are explained below:
- Drag and drop photos
- Add Photos or Add Folder
- Comparison Method
- Matching Level
- Settings
- Selecting scan area
- Scan for Duplicates
Note : Using the Mac version of Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro, you can Add photos stored in the Photo Library also.
Drag and drop photos:
Using this option without navigating to the folder or photo location, you can drag and drop images you wish to scan for duplicates.
Add Photos :
This option allows users to navigate the Files Explorer and select pictures for comparison.
Add Folder:
This option enables the users to choose an entire folder with the pictures saved to scan for duplicates.
Comparison Method:
Duplicate Photos Fixer offers two comparison methods to detect duplicates and similar matching images. You can use them to decide the action to be taken.
Exact Match–
This option helps detect and remove duplicate copies of images.
Note : Since this method focuses on detecting images that are 100% alike or are an exact copy, the scan results will vary when you choose Similar Match.
Similar Match–
This option scans and identifies images with similarities like geographical location, time interval, etc.
Note: You can customize the scanning criteria using the slider given under each sub-section.
Matching Level
The Matching Level is the first setting, probably the most important one. This option helps determine the degree of similarity between two images. Using the slider, you can adjust the matching level.
- Low Matching Level: Moving the slider towards Low Matching Level displays images with wide diversification. To understand, please look at the screenshot below.
As the Slider is positioned towards the extreme left, the difference in the images can be observed with the Butterfly on top of the flower in the first image and the same butterfly near the flower in the second image.
- Middle Matching Level: This is the default setting, and the results will be less similar to Low Matching Level.
To understand the same take a look at the screenshot given below. Notice that the butterfly is nearer to the flower, resulting in near-identical images being grouped for deletion.
- High Matching Level: The Slider, when positioned to the far right, reduces the degree of similarity, and the search result is narrowed down even further.
To understand the same take a look at the screenshot given below. Notice that when the slider is High, the two images below are almost identical.
Bitmap Size
The second setting is the Bitmap Size, which helps manage the search result’s accuracy by adjusting the slider between performance and quality.
Once you change it, the search results will depend on the selection of Bitmap settings. The default setting of the Bitmap size is 64 Pixels, as shown below.
Tip : For quick and near-accurate results, the user must move the slider towards extreme left i.e., Performance.
For accurate results, move the slider to the right towards Quality.
Time Interval
The third setting is Time Interval, which helps select the time interval between the two photos which are likely to be near identical. The default setting of the time gap between two images is 30 seconds.
The maximum time difference considered between the two images is 24 hours. Sliding the pointer towards the left instructs Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro to select and group more images that are similar to each other.
The minimum time difference considered between two images is 1 sec. This setting is useful when the user has taken pictures in quick succession.
GPS
As the name suggests, it checks the embedded coordinates in the photos. The default setting is set at five meters.
The minimum setting is one meter, and when the pointer is positioned at ‘Less,’ the software groups only those photos as similar where the distance between two images is one meter.
The maximum setting is 100 meters which would be considered while scanning the photos added by the user.
To detect Duplicate images from flipped and rotated pictures, check these options.
Settings
The setting option is provided at the top right corner of the screen. It is further divided into five subsections.
General:
This option allows choosing the alert settings confirmation message when deleting, Auto Mark option, launch at startup, and more.
File Formats:
Decide which image file extension should be scanned for duplicates and set the minimum file size to be scanned from this section.
The default value is set at 50 KB and can be decreased to a minimum of 10 KB resulting in all the images fewer than 10 KB will not be included in the scan.
Excluded Folders
If there are any folders that you don’t wish to scan can add them to this list.
Scan Criteria:
This option allows choosing different scan criteria like time interval and GPS. Moreover, you can decide whether to include rotated or flipped images to be scanned for duplicates.
Move Duplicates
Decide whether you want to send deleted duplicates to Recycle Bin or a user-defined location.
How to Exclude Folders?
Using this option, you can add folders to skip from scanning.
To do so, click Settings > click Exclude Folder > Add.
This will open a new window. Select the folder that you wish to exclude.
Once added, you will see it listed under this section.
Reset Settings:
As the name infers, this button at the bottom left corner of the Settings window will return all the settings to their default state.
Scan For Duplicates:
Once all the settings are applied and photos are added for scanning, click the Scan for Duplicates button. This will initiate the scan and identify duplicate and similar photos on your computer.

I have 2 folders with photos. Folder A is a priority folder, I want to keep photos in Folder A. Folder B has some of the photos in Folder A, but it may not have all of them and it definitely has more photos than in Folder A. I want to identify all of the photos in Folder B that are already in Folder A and delete them. I have identified Folder A as “protected”. But when I run the scan, it leaves the duplicate photos as green (unmarked) whether they are in Folder A or in Folder B. I have to manually mark the Folder B photos if I want to delete them. With 50,000 duplicates, this is too manually intensive. How do I do this? Thanks.
I am working on Windows 11 with a purchased Pro version of Duplicate Photos Fixer.
Hello Tom,
Thank you for writing to us.
With Duplicate Photos Fixer Pro you can auto mark duplicates saved in a specific folder. To do so, firstly remove Folder A from the Protected folder. Once that is done, add both Folder A and B and run the scan to identify duplicates.
Once you have the scan results click the magic wand icon next to Selection Assistant.
This will open Selection Assistant window from where you can customize the rules auto marking rules.
Click the Selection Priority tab and set folder priority as 1. Use the arrow keys to change the priority. Once that is done, click Folder tab and here set the priority for folder A as 1. This you can again do using the down and up arrow icons.
Now click Mark. You will find that the duplicates in Folder B are automarked.
Hope this helps.
IF you still face any problem please send an email to support@systweak.com. They will be able to assist you further.
