The user’s authority does matter when you are trying to run a graphic and memory-intensive game. Hence, the game might stop working at different intervals when you are not running your launcher as an admin. It might not even launch sometimes.
Since Death Stranding is available on Steam, here’s what you need to do –
Step 1 – Right click on the launch icon for Steam.
Step 2 – Open the file location to find the Steam application in the File Explorer.
Step 3 – Open its Properties.
Step 4 – In Properties, go to the Compatibility tab.
Step 5 – Check on “Run Program as an Administrator” and save changes.
From now on, whenever you run Steam, it will run as administrator, giving proper permissions and resources required for the game to run. Try launching the game now, and you will see that the game is easily running.
If that didn’t work for you, do not worry; we have other fixes too!
Fix #2 – Allow Your Game Through Restrictions (Firewall)
This fix is for when Death Stranding won’t launch on PC or does not give you proper feedback once you have launched it. Sometimes your security applications cannot detect the developer or the game’s origin, which is why it might end up blocking the process for you.
The best way to handle this situation is to allow the process to run on your Windows firewall and other security programs. Here’s how you do it –
Step 1 – Go to the start menu of your PC and search for Windows Security.
Step 2 – You will find a dedicated Firewall and network protection option in the opened settings. Click on it to open.
Step 3 – Find the option “Allow an app through the firewall” in the opened firewall and network protection. This is how it appears –
Step 4 – Click on it and open your application browser to find the applications.
Step 5 – In the process, click on “Change settings” so that the option to Allow another app ( the one on the bottom right becomes clickable, and you can easily do so.
Step 6 – Lastly, browse for the application file of the game, and add its path in this box. Click on add, and you are good to go!
Fix #3 – Remove Your PC’s Temporary Files
The temporary files often end up keeping a log of crashed applications. When an application, including your game, in this case, Death Stranding, crashes, the log is created in the temp files. So, when you try to run the game, the possibility of a temp file causing an issue exists.
The best thing to do here is to remove all the temporary files. Here are some steps to help you do so –
Step 1 – Press Windows + R on your keyboard to bring up the run search.
Step 2 – Use the command %temp% and hit enter. This will take you to the temporary files folder.
Step 3 – The Temporary files folder looks something like this.
Step 4 – Press Ctrl+A and Shift+Del to instantly delete these files.
Step 5 – Refresh your PC after you have removed these files.
Fix #4 – Disable Overclocking (if enabled)
If you have tried to boost your PC performance by overclocking, it might be causing constant crashes in the game. You see, overclocking is no longer a successful measure to take when it comes to enhancing your PC’s performance.
Using applications like the MSI Afterburner or Intel XTU is of no use. So simply disable all the changes you have made in the application you used for overclocking and uninstall it. After making the changes, restart your PC, and you may find that the game is running successfully.
Fix #5 – Update Graphics Driver
If the issue you are experiencing is related to frame drops and lagging in Death Stranding on Windows, it is probably struggling with your GPU. The ideal way to handle this situation is to check your graphics card drivers for updates.
Drivers often go unnoticed as they are not always available at the forefront. One has to find them in the device manager, which is not so visible.
If you believe that finding the driver in the Device Manager and then updating it manually is a tough nut to crack, do not worry, we also have an alternative for the process! Here’s what you can do.
Step 1 – Download and install the application on your PC. You can find the download link below.
