5 Fixes to Resolve HID-Compliant Touch Screen Not Showing Error [WORKING]

Is the internal touch screen becoming unresponsive on your laptop? The issue with the HID-Compliant touch screen is nothing new. Most Windows users have complained about the laptop touch screen not working correctly. However, a more complex issue the users encountered is the HID-Compliant touch screen not showing in the Device Manager.

You may wonder why it is a more significant threat than not working correctly.

Well, if something on your PC stops working, where do you go to check its properties? It is Device Manager. But what will you do when the device at fault does not appear in that list?

The HID-compliant touch screen missing is probably the most mischievous error users face. Thankfully, it is resolvable. There are multiple ways you can resolve this issue from the core.

In this post, let’s take a closer look at these fixes!

Fix HID-Compliant Touch Screen Not Showing Error on Windows 10/7/8

Fix 1 – Enable “Show Hidden Devices” in Device Manager

Step 1 – Press Windows+ R ki to open the Run search
Step 2 – In the Run search, enter command devmgmt.msc to open Device Manager

Step 3 – Find the View button on the top bar of the tool and click on it to find the Show Hidden Devices option.

Step 4 – Once you can click on the shared option, look for the Actions button in the top bar and click on it.
Step 5 – In the Actions button, you may find the option that says, “Scan for hardware changes” click on it as it will refresh the device manager to list hidden devices as well.

Sometimes, the HID-compliant Touch Screen is hidden from the user, so they do not play around with its configuration. One can easily find their way to the respective settings using the above steps.

Fix 2 – Update HID-Compliant Touch Screen Drivers

When the first fix doesn’t work, you must understand that the drivers for your HID-compliant touch screen may be outdated. The best thing to do here is to update the drivers. But the twist is that since the device in question is not listed in the Device Manager, how do you approach the update process? Well, that is where Advanced Driver Updater comes in handy.

Step 1 – Download the Advanced Driver Updater from the link below and install it right away

Step 2 – Click on Start Scan Now to initiate the scan for outdated drivers.

Step 3 – This is an entirely independent process, which means all the drivers on your PC are scanned and have nothing to do with whether a device shows up in the Device Manager.
Step 4  – Once the scan is complete, you have a list of outdated drivers on your PC. If outdated drivers are the reason behind HID-compliant touchscreen issues, you will find it in the list.

Step 5 – Click on Update All to resolve all the driver-related issues on the PC.

Download the latest version of drivers and install them using Advanced Driver Updater to ensure that the PC is working in its optimum state.

Fix 3 – Deploy Windows Hardware Troubleshooter

If updating drivers did not help, run the Windows Hardware Troubleshooting.

Step 1- Press Windows + I on your keyboard to open System Setting.
Step 2 – Click Update & Security.

Step 3 – Scroll down to find a dedicated option that says Troubleshoot.

Step 3 – In Troubleshoot option, click Other Troubleshooters

Step 4 – The list of Other Troubleshooters will have a Hardware Troubleshooter you need to run.

This troubleshooter will help you identify the error with the HID-Compliant touchscreen so that you can resolve it or get it resolved.

Fix 4 – Uninstall Problematic System Updates

If none of the above fixes work, and you realize that the error you are experiencing occurred soon after you have updated the PC, uninstalling the update might help. Here’s how you do it –

Step 1 – Press Windows + I to open the system settings.
Step 2 – In the left panel, Click on Windows Update.

Step 3 – In the available Windows Update window, look for the option that says, Update History.

Step 4 – In the Update History window, scroll down to find the Uninstall updates option.

Step 5 – Once you click on Uninstall updates, you get an option to choose which update to remove, as not all of them can be removed.

Choose the update that you want to get rid of. You can find “installed on” dates with the updates to identify if the error has appeared after the date.

Fix 5 – Get Rid of Corrupted System Files

Another crucial issue causing the HID-Compliant touch screen to show an error on your PC is the presence of corrupt system files. The best way to get rid of these files quickly is to use the SFC scan on your PC.

Step 1 – Go to the Start Menu and search for Command Prompt

Step 2 – In the found results, click on Run as Administrator to open the CMD window.
Step 3 – In CMD, use the command sfc/scannow to initiate the process.

Step 4 – This command will automatically look for and fix corrupt system files.
Step 5 – Restart the PC once the SFC scan is over. Check the Device Manager to see if the touchscreen is showing.

All the problems that could cause HID-compliant touch screens not to show errors on your PC have been explored and resolved using the above fixes. If none of these helped you, there are only two things left to consider, i.e., getting the hardware checked and resetting your Windows.
