Webcam not working and not being detected when using Microsoft Teams, Zoom, & other video conferencing services is a common issue. This post explains how to fix Microsoft Teams issues with Lenovo T495 and update drivers. The quickest way to update drivers is to use Advanced Driver Updater.

Causes for Lenovo Laptop Camera Problems

Here’s a list of possible reasons for the camera not working.

  • The camera is unselected in the program you’re using.
  • The application you are using is unable to recognize the camera.
  • The camera is in use by another program.
  • Privacy settings are blocking the camera.
  • Corrupt or missing camera driver.
  • Windows is unable to recognize the camera.
  • Issues with laptop firmware.
  • Defective camera.

Best Ways To Fix Lenovo ThinkPad T495 Camera Not Working?

Before following technical troubleshooting steps, let’s try a basic fix and see if it helps.

Open the Lenovo app and press the F8 key. This will enable the camera. Now try to use it; this should help.

In case the above fix did not help with the Lenovo laptop camera problems. Don’t worry; we have other ways to fix the issue.

Method 1 – Check Privacy Settings

While privacy settings are designed to keep hackers at bay, sometimes they can create issues, especially when you want to use the webcam. To get the camera working, go through the step by step instructions given below:

  • Go to the Camera’s privacy settings. To do so, In the search box, type Camera and choose Camera privacy settings.

  • If the button under Allow apps to access your camera is switched off, slide the button to the right to enable the options.

  • Now try to use Microsoft Teams with the camera. You should be able to use it.

If changing privacy settings did not help, let’s try updating drivers. The below fix enables Lenovo users and has helped other users resolve different issues.

Method 2 – Update Lenovo Webcam Driver

You can update device drivers in two ways – manual and automatic. You don’t need to be a computer expert to update drivers automatically. All you need is an intelligent driver updater utility. We will explain both ways to update webcam drivers.

If you don’t want to risk your computer by downloading incorrect drivers, use Advanced Driver Updater.

Manually Update Webcam Driver

To update the webcam driver on your own, you need to access Device Manager. To learn how to do that, follow these steps:

  • Press Windows + R and open the Run window.
  • Type msc and press Enter to open Device Manager.
  • Double click Imaging Devices to unhide Lenovo EasyCamera.

A tiny arrow next to the camera means the device is disabled. To enable it, right-click on the camera and select Enable device option. If the option reads Disable device, the camera is enabled, and the problem is with the driver.

Automatic Way to Update the Camera Driver & Fix Driver related Issue

  • Right-click on the Lenovo EasyCamera > select Update driver.

  • Select Search automatically for drivers and let Windows find the latest driver update.
  • Install the updates & check if the camera is working or not.

Suppose you get the message, The best drivers for your device are already installed; visit the Lenovo site & update the Lenovo EasyCamera driver.

If this sounds tricky and you don’t have the patience, use Advanced Driver Updater. The driver updating tool will locate the outdated driver and show the latest and compatible updates, giving you a choice of whether to update it. Also, it allows scheduling driver scanning to help keep the PC in the best working condition.

How to use Advanced Driver Updater?

To use Advanced Driver Updater, follow these steps:

  • Download and install Advanced Driver Updater.

  • Click Start Scan Now to scan the PC for outdated drivers.

  • Let the scan finish and update the driver.

  • To update the driver when using the free version, click the Update driver link next to it. On the contrary, registered users have the privilege to update all outdated drivers at once by using the Update All button.

  • Reboot the PC to save changes, and then try to run Microsoft Teams. It should not give you trouble.

Method 3 Analyze Program Settings

If the webcam works for some installed programs but not for other applications, there are chances that there are issues with the settings of the program in question.  To check, follow these steps:

  • Run the program using which you are facing the problem.
  • Go to its Settings > and check if the Lenovo EasyCamera is to default or not. If not make it default.

You might think of it as a silly way around. But there’s no harm in trying

Method 4: Uninstall Lenovo Settings App

If nothing has worked so far, try uninstall the Lenovo Settings app. This might not sound right, but since nothing else worked, there’s no harm trying.

To delete the Lenovo Settings app, go through the following steps:

  • In Windows search type Control Panel.

  • Click Uninstall a program under Programs.

  • Select Lenovo Settings Dependency Package > select Uninstall.
  • Restart the laptop and see if the camera works.

The above steps should help fix the camera issue with Microsoft Teams. Note, updating the Lenovo T495 driver updater has worked for many users. Thereofre, don’t miss out on updating the driver. We hope the webcam will be working again. If the problem persists, check the camera for hardware-related issues.
