Understanding this, Microsoft released a new file history feature that helps roll back changes. We will discuss this feature in detail and the alternative ways to restore deleted or lost files on Windows.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>What is the Previous Version in Windows?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As the name suggests, it is the copies of files or folders created by Windows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.systweak.com\/blogs\/how-to-backup-restore-windows-10-file\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Backup or System Restore<\/a>. The feature helps restore previous versions of files that were accidentally adapted or deleted or were damaged due to a virus attack. It uses the Tracker copy service to retrieve the previous version when the user requests.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">To use the feature, the File History feature should be enabled. To do so, follow these steps:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Right-click the Windows icon and click on Settings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-6674 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/bg.systweak.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/windows-setting-1.jpg\" alt=\"windows setting\" width=\"366\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"http:\/\/143.244.153.71\/systweakblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/windows-setting-1.jpg 366w, http:\/\/143.244.153.71\/systweakblogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/windows-setting-1-300x275.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 366px) 100vw, 366px\" \/><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Click Update &amp; Security &gt; Backup. If the option is enabled underneath Back up using File History, you will see the drive letter you use for File History backup. Select the one you want to use for backup (File History). Enable by option by moving the slider to the right. This will allow the File History feature to keep back up of field on it. To view, select the version you want to get back and choose Open.
